{"id":6457,"date":"2026-08-05T10:00:48","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T08:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/familia-valdelana-mejor-vino-blanco-rioja\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T09:45:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T07:45:23","slug":"rioja-alavesa-harvest-festival-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/en\/rioja-alavesa-harvest-festival-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"We are the most awarded winery at the Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Six of our wines have received awards in the latest edition of the <a title=\"Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival\" href=\"https:\/\/fiestadelavendimiariojaalavesa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival<\/a>, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">one of the most important competitions in the Qualified Designation of Origin Rioja (DOCa Rioja).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Since 2015, our winery has harvested more than twenty awards, placing us as <strong>one of the most recognized in Rioja at this contest<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">One of Rioja\u2019s most prestigious wine competitions<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <b>prestige of this competition lies in<\/b> its long history (since 1994), the fact that it encompasses the three sub-zones of the designation (Rioja Oriental, Rioja Alta, and Rioja Alavesa), the high standard of the participants, and its blind tasting format. In other words, jury members do not know the brand of the wine they are tasting and scoring. In the words of Juan Valdelana: \u201cThere is no greater pride for us than seeing our wines emerge victorious in blind tasting competitions, where quality and craftsmanship stand out above all else.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Juan-y-Juanje-Valdelana-premios-Fiesta-de-la-Vendimia-de-Rioja-Alavesa-2026.jpg\" alt=\"Juan and Juanje Valdelana collect awards at the 2026 Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival - Bodegas Valdelana (Elciego)\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our Singular Wines sweep the 2026 edition<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among the 176 wines entered into the 33rd edition of the Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival competition, six of our wines received awards: gold medals for <strong>Familia Valdelana Reserva, Finca La Medika, and Finca La Pared de los Curas<\/strong>, silver for Finca Santa Cruz de Valdelana and Finca Tronco Negro, and a bronze medal for Finca Senda de las Damas. In other words, out of the six award winners, five come from our <a title=\"We are the winery with the most singular vineyards in DOCa Rioja\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/en\/most-unique-vineyards-doca-rioja\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">singular vineyards<\/a>, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">one of the projects in which we have invested the most energy and devotion in recent years; therefore, it could be said that our joy has been even greater.<\/span> This year the gala was held in Arkabia (Vitoria-Gasteiz).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-fw link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/en\/shop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-for=\"#informacion-reveal\">Get them in our online store<\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yCRK4DlPP2c?si=15Ix7NC_P15OjAcm\" width=\"100%\" height=\"640\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two of our wines reach the podium at the 32nd edition of the Harvest Awards<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">32nd edition of the Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival Competition was held &#8220;at home&#8221;, in Elciego, and although 240 wines were entered, we were fortunate to step onto the podium with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>our Familia Valdelana Ros\u00e9 and Reserva.<\/b><\/span><b><\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11847\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/n770_17_07_2025_PREMIOS_VENDIMIA_ELCIEGO__78_.jpeg\" alt=\"Harvest Awards 2025 Familia Valdelana Reserva\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also received six awards at the Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival in 2024<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The town of Samaniego hosted the 31st DOCa Rioja Wine Competition, an event that, once again, <\/span>recognized the quality of our wines. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>On this occasion, six of our wines received awards.<\/strong> The highest distinction came in the \u201cWhite Wines from Singular Vineyards\u201d category, where Pared de los Curas and Tronco Negro achieved first and second place, while Santa Cruz and Senda Las Damas were second and third among the best \u201cRed Wines from Singular Vineyards\u201d. Meanwhile, our Juan Valdelana wine reached second place in the \u201cGreat Wines &#8211; Signature Wines\u201d category, and our iconic Bar\u00f3n Ladr\u00f3n de Guevara was named the third best \u201cRed Crianza\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1a-Bodegas-Valdelana-seis-premios-fiesta-de-la-vendimia-Rioja-Alavesa.jpg\" alt=\"Bodegas Valdelana, six awards at the 31st DOCa Rioja Wine Competition (Samaniego)\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our whites, the big winners of the 2023 edition<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the 30th edition of the competition held in Laguardia, our white wines Ladr\u00f3n de Guevara and Familia Valdelana were recognized, respectively, as <\/span><b>the best and second-best white wine in the Rioja Designation of Origin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8472\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1a-Judit-Valdelana-recoge-el-premio-al-mejor-blando-de-Rioja.jpg\" alt=\"Judit Valdelana collects the award for second-best white wine in Rioja at the 2023 Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Familia Valdelana was named Best Young White Wine of DOCa Rioja 2022<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2022, the town of Lanciego hosted the 27th Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival, an edition that recognized our Familia Valdelana as the best white wine in DOCa Rioja and our <\/span><b>Agnvs de Autor as the second-best<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> barrel-fermented white wine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6448\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2a-premio-mejor-blanco-familia-valdelana-fiesta-vendimia.jpg\" alt=\"Bodegas Valdelana receives the award for best white wines at the Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our white wines were also awarded in this competition in 2020<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the pandemic year, our white wines were also honored. In this case, Familia Valdelana was once again recognized as the best young white wine in the designation, and Agnvs Malvas\u00eda as the best barrel-aged white wine. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Having our white wines recognized over so many years is a true source of pride for our winery where, <\/span><b>since 2015, we have made a firm commitment to producing high-quality whites<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.noticiasdealava.eus\/alava\/2020\/09\/12\/valdelana-deslumbra-concurso-vinos-fiesta-1173175.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3231 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Sin-titulo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agnvs and Ladr\u00f3n de Guevara de Autor, Best Crianza Wines in 2019<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In 2019 the glory went to our Crianza wines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: at the 26th edition of the festival held in Ba\u00f1os de Ebro, Agnvs and Ladr\u00f3n de Guevara de Autor were named the best and second-best Crianza wines in DOCa Rioja among more than 300 entries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1891\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/2a-Judit-valdelana-mejores-crianza-fiesta-vendimia-rioja-alavesa-2019.jpg\" alt=\"Judit Valdelana collects the Best Crianza award at the 2019 Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2018 it was the turn of our Agnvs de Autor<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2018, our Agnvs de Autor earned the medal for <\/span><b>best singular wine in Rioja <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at the competition held that year in Elvillar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1471\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodegasvaldelana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/juan-valdelana-fiesta-de-la-vendimia.jpg\" alt=\"Juanje and Juan Valdelana collect awards at the 2018 Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First awards at the 2015 Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Our love affair with the Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival wine competition began in 2015<\/strong>, during another gala hosted in Elciego, where two of our wines were awarded among over 200 contenders: our Avior wine was awarded the gold medal for Best Young Red Rioja, while Palador Crianza took home the silver medal for Best Singular Wine.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Juan Valdelana, the key figure behind these distinctions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our wines\u2019 ongoing success at this competition over so many years is the result of great teamwork\u2014a milestone shared by all the generations that came before us. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, we must highlight that <\/span><b>the vast majority of the awarded wines today bear the signature of Juan Valdelana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who has been connected to the wine world from a very young age.<\/span> Juan Valdelana graduated with a degree in Oenology from the University of La Rioja (2017), winning the award for best final degree project<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which allowed him to work for several months at the Regulatory Council and immerse himself in the roots of DOCa Rioja.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He later earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering, providing him with comprehensive knowledge across all areas of winemaking.
