If there is one thing that defines our winery, it is our desire to find new challenges. And that search has taken us from Rioja Alavesa to Ribeira Sacra, one of the most impressive regions in Spain. There we have started to make Lobishome, a very special wine with the challenge of heroic viticulture.

Ribeira Sacra, one of the most spectacular regions of Galicia

The Ribeira Sacra is located in the central-eastern part of Galicia and covers part of the north of the province of Ourense and the south of Lugo, where the rivers Cabe, Miño and Sil (and a few tectonic movements), have formed a unique landscape. This Galician territory also has one of the most unique Denominations of Origin for wine in Spain, with vineyards that grow on slopes of up to 60º. These conditions prevent the use of any machine for harvesting, so it is done by hand and in complicated conditions. They call it heroic viticulture.

Lobishome, a heroic wine

Lobishome is the name we have chosen for this exciting project. Under this brand we have produced two wines that come from the most amazing and dizzying vineyards in the Ribeira Sacra. We are working with Manolo Verao y Conde in this territory. Once the grapes have been harvested, we make the wine in the Gundivós rectory, a noble 18th century building. These wines symbolize day and night.

Lobishome Noche

Lobishome Noche is made with grapes from As Lobeiras. This granite stone parcel is one of the most inclined in Spain. There grapes of the Mencia variety are born and give us a fruity character wine, with notes of red cherry and black fruits. Limited production of 1,727 bottles.

Lobishome Día

Lobishome Día is also made of the Mencia grape, but in this case it comes from three different and very old vineyards with slate soil. From them we get this cheerful, fruity and very jovial wine. Limited production of 2,300 bottles.

A label inspired by a fascinating story

Galicia is a land of mysteries and legends and that is something that captured us from the first time. One of its most fascinating stories is about the figure of Manuel Blanco Romasanta, a serial killer born at the beginning of the 19th century in the Orense part of Ribeira Sacra. This character is that he is the only documented case of clinical lycanthropy, a hallucinatory disorder characterized by the affected person’s ideas about their transformation into an animal. In Galician, Lobishome means werewolf and that is why we have chosen this name and this label for the wines we make here.

Lobishome has already been distinguished as one of the best wines from Galicia

The Guide of Wines, Spirits and Bodegas of Galicia by prescriptors Luis and Alejandro Paadín have already recognized its quality, although we have only produced two vintages of Lobishome. Lobishome Noche has obtained the Grand Gold medal In 2023 and 2024, while Lobishome Día has also received the gold for two consecutive years.

Now that you know Lobishome and everything behind it: do you feel the howl?
